| Pilgrim Baptist Church Prepares to celebrate 99 years of the Church and 20 years of the Pastorate of Rev. Louis B. Jones II |
|
Ninety-nine years ago, to be exact, on March 29, 1911, this branch of Zion – Pilgrim Baptist Church, was organized in Southwest Washington, D.C., where it remained until the 1950’s, wherein the Southwest Urban Renewal Movement took precedence and the church relocated to its’ current location at 700 Eye Street, N.E. Since its inception, God has blessed us with five mighty men of God at the helm. Today, we celebrate not only the Church, but Pastor Louis B. Jones, II, our fifth and current Pastor, who in twenty years has shown us an awesome vision given to him by God. We have EXPERIENCED GOD in the evidence of this man of God who came to Pilgrim in April 1990. Under his leadership and “wisdom beyond his years,” Pilgrim has experienced growth in fellowship, learning, faith, discipleship, love, and humility. And we have, through Pastor Jones’ leadership and teaching, learned to listen for the Voice of God, to feel His presence, and to find where God is at work and join Him. Join us in the month of April for our Anniversary Services as we fellowship with local pastor and churches as well as pastors from throughout the country. In addition, we are featuring “Preaching Moments” rhema words from God’s men up through the month of June. See our home page for the schedule and come and worship with us as we praise God for the things that He hath done!
